Dear Parents,
We hope that you and your son(s) have enjoyed the start of his summer vacation and that you have had a chance to celebrate all the accomplishments of the 2021-2022 school year!
We hope that your family is planning for a restorative summer together. We know that the best thing that SHS boys can do for their well-being. To this end, we have prepared an SHS Summer Resource Guide that you will find on the tab at the top of this website. The guide is built around our school’s S.H.A.R.K.S health and well-being model and it is full of summer adventures, great places to visit, backyard art projects and so much more. There are many links in this resource to online “how-to” videos and zero links to online activities. This is intentional. We believe strongly that recreation and reconnection are the primary goals for the summer of 2022.
In addition to the summer resource guide, we have also prepared SHS Academic Packages for every grade level. They can be found on the Summer Packages tab. These packages include skills for your son to review before he enters his new grade. We have linked helpful web resources, as well as some printable pages for each of the core subjects. At the end of each package, you will find a list of recommended books that your son(s) may like to read over the course of the summer.
The suggested academic tasks are entirely optional. Engaging in these learning tasks over the summer is a family choice based on your son, how he learns, and how you choose to spend your family time together. Should your family choose to pursue some academic learning over the summer, we wanted to provide some helpful suggestions.
In addition to the Summer Packages and SHS Summer Resource Guide, this website includes reading lists and the year-end videos and galleries of images for you to enjoy with your son and reminisce about the school year.
We hope that you find these resources helpful throughout the summer months. Thank you for your ongoing partnership with The Sterling Hall School. We wish you a safe and happy summer and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to campus in the fall!
Sincerely,
Drew Gulyas
